Technical Details

I acquired my Magideal, Version A from Suntek in 2017.

Version A is 102 mm. tall, 60 mm. wide, 32 mm. thick, and weighs 97 g The shell is an irregular shaped anodized stamping made from 3.7 mm. aluminum alloy sheet metal. The ascender is left-handed. The stamping has a reinforcing dimple below the cam. The rope channel is 15 mm. wide. There are two mud clearance holes in the rope channel, opposite the cam.

A hole drilled through the shell supports a 6 mm. pin which enters from the front and is riveted over a bushing in the rear. The cam, cam spring and a spacing washer are mounted on this pin. A small pin riveted below the cam axle acts as a cam stop. A 18.8 x 19.4 mm. oval sling attachment hole is punched below the cam and a 20.3 x 14.0 mm subtriangular hole provides an attachment point just above the cam.

The cam is a steel casting. The cam radius increases from 31 to 49 mm. over an angle of 43°, giving a 33° cam angle. The tooth pattern is (3.4.H.4.2.3.H.2.2.1)(1H1)(4.3). A spring-loaded manual safety mounts on the bottom inside of the cam. A small cord and tab resembling a zipper pull is tied to a hole in the safety.

The front of the ascender is screened with "MAGIDEAL." The Rear is screened with "CE 1282," "EN 363:2008," "Max 120 kg," "¤ 8≤ø≤13," a book-with-an-"i" icon, and a Sieg Heil icon.

Comments

This is a small, light ascender. Its small size makes it rather difficult for me to operate, especially if I'm wearing gloves. I don't normally climb Frog and I would not make this my normal chest ascender, but folks who place a premium on weight might find it attractive.

Technical Details

I acquired my Magideal, Version B from Suntek in 2017.

Version B is 90 mm. tall, 58 mm. wide, 38 mm. thick, and weighs 107 g. The shell is an irregular shaped anodized stamping made from 3.7 mm. aluminum alloy sheet metal. The ascender is left-handed. The stamping has a reinforcing dimple below the cam. Instead of a standard rope channel formed in the left side, this ascender has three tabs formed and drilled in a geometry that allows them to support two rollers. The resulting rope channel is 15 mm. wide. The rollers ride on pins screwed to the tabs. There are two mud clearance holes in the lower roller support, opposite the cam.

A hole drilled through the shell supports a 6 mm. pin which enters from the front and is riveted over a bushing in the rear. The cam, cam spring and a spacing washer are mounted on this pin. A small pin riveted below the cam axle acts as a cam stop. A 16.8 x 20.6 mm. oval sling attachment hole is punched below the cam and a 19.0 x 11.8 mm subtriangular hole provides an attachment point just above the cam.

The front of the ascender is screened with "MAGIDEAL" and a a book-with-an-"i" icon. The Rear is screened with "CE 1282," "EN 363:2008," "¤ 8≤ø≤13," a book-with-an-"i" icon, "Max 120 kg," "¤ 10≤ø≤13," yet another a book-with-an-"i" icon, and a Sieg Heil icon.

Comments

This is another small, light ascender. Once again, this ascender's small size makes it rather difficult for me to operate, especially if I'm wearing gloves.

This ascender is essentiall the same as the Camp Turbo Chest.
