Technical Details

I acquired Version A on eBay from Climbing Terekpl in 2012.

The Rock Empire is forged from aluminum alloy and then soft anodized. Mine is 140 mm. tall, 73 mm. wide, and 12 mm. thick. The rope hole is 49 mm. high and 49 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 12 mm. The shaft length and width are 43 mm. and 24 mm., respectively. The eye measures 24 mm. by 24 mm. My eight weighs 109 g.

One side is screened with "ROCK ® EMPIRE" and "N044/11." The rear of the shaft has a raised strength (not rigging) icon labeled "kN" and "36."

Comments

This is another example of a full size, forged eight with a flat shaft. The eye is not designed for belaying. It is essentially identical to the Kong Classic, NAT, U.S. Rigging Supply, and Yoke Version B.

Technical Details

I acquired Version B on eBay from Falling Rocks in 2017.

I acquired my Rock Empire, Version B on eBay from Falling Rocks in 2017. It is 139 mm. tall, 72 mm. wide, 12 mm. thick, and weighs 107 g.

Version B is forged from aluminum alloy and then soft anodized. Mine is 139 mm. tall, 72 mm. wide, and 12 mm. thick. The rope hole is 50 mm. high and 49 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 12 mm. The shaft length and width are 44 mm. and 24 mm., respectively. The eye measures 24 mm. by 24 mm. My eight weighs 107 g.

One side is screened with a book-with-an-"i" icon, "ø7-13.5," "CE 1019," "N014/16," and "ROCK ® EMPIRE." The rear of the shaft has a raised strength (not rigging) icon labeled "kN" and "36."

Comments

This is another example of a full size, forged eight with a flat shaft. Although similar to Version A, the depressions on each side of the shaft are much shallower. This, of course, does not significantly affect the eight's performance.
