Technical Details

I acquired my Lowe Alpine Systems from Yinetyme (Nocogear) in 2016.

The Lowe Alpine Systems eight is forged from aluminum alloy. Mine is 131 mm. tall, 74 mm. wide, and 13 mm. thick. The rope hole is 48 mm. high and 48 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 11 mm. The shaft length and width are 43 mm. and 24 mm., respectively. The eye measures 18 mm. by 25 mm. My eight weighs 108 g.

One side of the shaft is screened with "LOWE ALPINE" and "ITALY," the other with "kN 25." The top of the front is stamped with "0297."

The S&L is a typical example of a "midi" size, forged, aluminum eight. It is essentially identical to the Advanced Base Camp versions A and B, AustriAlpin, Camp Version B, Camp/Lowe versions A and B, CH, CT Ltd., Lucky Ecos Mini, Mammut versions B and D, and Salewa Midi. This eight is unfinished so it will wear quickly. The eye is 25 mm. wide, so it can be used for "Sticht" belaying on 9 mm. rope. The eye is a bit short for optimum use on 11 mm. rope.

The Lowe Alpine Systems eight is lighter than most figure eights.
